In 1924, Norwegian immigrant Knute K.Berge opened a tailor shop in his newly constructed building. It has gone through many changes and businesses and was almost torn down for flood mitigation.

Korthuis Jewelry and Gifts owned the building and had their store here for many years. In 2011, the building was saved from demolition because of flood mitigation by Granite Falls Riverfront Revitalization, a non profit group of concerned citizens who could see the unique location and value of the buillding.

It was rented to the Granite Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and the Granite Area Arts Council for a few years.

The current owner is the Granite Area Arts Council, a non-profit formed in 2009, which currently manages an art gallery, gift shop and event space in the prominent location next to the historic Roebling footbridge.
